Your doula will generally not take clients during times she will be unavailable, however, in the event she is sick or unable to attend your birth, she will have a backup doula available or transition to virtual support. You will incur no extra charges for backup doula and/or virtual support.
Generally, the doula will plan stay with you about 12 hours. After 12 hours, she may transition to virtual support or call in a back up doula. However, she will not leave you unsupported during your birth.
The doula will generally join you during active labor either at your home or birth center/hospital. However, if you and she decide to start support during early labor, she may come and go as you are both comfortable. If you need support during early labor and later change your mind, this time will not count towards your approximately 12 hours of support.
